Hayao Miyazaki recently celebrated his 70th birthday, which is an amazing achievement for Japan's premier animation director. I've been a fan of Miyazaki-sensei since seeing the amazing Nausicaa, and happened to be in the anime video room at the San Diego Comicon in 1987 when some staff members from Tokuma Shoten and Studio Ghibli brought a video tape of My Neighbor Totoro to show to fans, to get feedback as to whether American fans would like the film.
